Natural Ventilation of Toilet Units in K–12 School Restrooms Using CFD

چکیده

In this study, the influence of architectural design parameters (the exterior window area, wall height at a corridor-side, and door gap toilet unit) on airflow patterns malodorous volatile substance (acetic acid) distributions within units were investigated via computational fluid dynamics (CFD), with restrooms in K–12 public schools (kindergarten through grade 12) Taiwan as research objects. The results show that when there is 2 m/s north wind winter, all cases exceed required 12 air changes per hour (ACH), most are above 43.75 ACH. When 0.5 south summer, nearly half fail to reach Maintaining an adequate natural ventilation rate acceptable level odor pollution passive difficult. Thinking about how improve efficiency aid simple, appropriate, energy-saving mechanical approaches necessary.

CFD Modelling of Atrium-assisted Natural Ventilation

Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques to model buoyancy-driven airflows has always proved challenging. This work investigates CFD modelling of buoyancy-driven natural ventilation flows in a single-storey space connected to an atrium. The atrium is taller than the ventilated space and when warmed by internal heat gains producing a column of warm air in the atrium and connect space ...

High School Students' Experiences in School Toilets or Restrooms.

Previous research about school toilets is based on studies of children in elementary school. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore the experiences when using the school toilets reported by students aged 16-18 years. Qualitative interviews with 21 students were conducted and analyzed using content analysis. The data revealed that the toilets were considered insecure, dirty, and unpleasant. ...

Cfd Modelling of Buoyancy-driven Natural Ventilation Opposed by Wind

This paper presents CFD simulations of natural displacement ventilation airflows in which the buoyancy force produced by a heat source is opposed by a wind force. Cases investigated focus on windbuoyancy force relationships for which a two-layer stratification is maintained. CFD predictions of the position of the interface separating the two layers and the change in reduced gravity (temperature...

Natural Ventilation: Analysis of Indoor Airflow in an Assumed Cubic Building with Opposite Openings by CFD Investigations

The natural ventilation is an easy way to exchange the indoor polluted warm air with outdoor fresh air. The wind power injects outdoor fresh air into the building. A good indoor air current and subsequently a proper exhaust depend on the openings’ conditions and their situations. A serious architectural question is under what conditions of the openings the wind-cross ventilation can be effectiv...

Satisfying Toilet Needs in Pre-School

Background: It is known that, for reasons of hygiene and/or anxiety, some first year primary school children actively choose to avoid going to the toilet whilst at school, while at the same time many young children’s primary care visits are due to urinary tract and bowel problems. By this age most children can recognise the bodily signals indicating the need for a toilet visit, and can independ...
